Alan Davis

Artist

For fans of superhero comics, legendary artist Alan Davis needs no introduction. Starting out drawing comics as a hobby in the 1970s, his break came when Marvel UK asked him to draw CAPTAIN BRITAIN for their MARVEL SUPERHEROES anthology comic.

CAPTAIN BRITAIN teamed Alan with writer Alan Moore for the first time. Their successful partnership would see them create DR & QUINCH for 2000AD and enjoy huge success with MARVELMAN for UK based WARRIOR comics. Alan’s clean, classic style soon caught the eye of DC Comics, and in 1985 he was hired to work on BATMAN AND THE OUTSIDERS. This started a long and fruitful relationship with the “Big Two” American publishers, where Alan quickly became a sought after artist.

His work on the X-MEN books for Marvel led to Alan creating the UK superhero team EXCALIBUR with writer Chris Claremont, bringing Alan back to his routes and allowing him to expand on his CAPTAIN BRITAIN work. Alan would later become both artist and writer for EXCALIBUR from issue 42.

The 1990s and 2000s saw Alan continue to work successfully in US comics, contributing to (among others) JLA, AVENGERS, KILLRAVEN and FANTASTIC FOUR as well as creating another British super team, CLANDESTINE for Marvel.

Still active in comics today, Alan’s place in the history of comic books is assured. A huge talent and the epitome of the phrase “fan favourite”, we are thrilled that Alan will be with us for both days of the convention.
